Needed Modification: Auto-Tag Topics

There's a mod that will automatically tag topics with keywords from the title. Without this mod, the tagging feature is essentially useless (as people are too lazy to type tags when posting). The tag cloud with this mod is useful and usable. The tag cloud without this mod is useless.

So, I suggest it be added to all sites before their launch, and all sites that have already launched ASAP.

Good idea. Either do something like this or remove the tagging feature completely - virtually no one uses it anyway.

Good idea, but it will completely fuck up SEO + search engine rankings if the title has nothing to do with the post... the moment google notices there is no relation between the content and keywords, our SERanking gets auto-fucked. Easy for a competitior to exploit and bring us down.

It would be better to get the tags out of the body, but if the body is large we'll get a lot of tags and be fucked anyways

I think the number of topics with irrelevant titles are in the vast minority of topics. It's not worse for SEO to have an irrelevant title in the tag system than it is for SEO to simply have an irrelevant title on a topic, so I wouldn't worry about that. I think having pages that link to topics based on keywords would increase that keyword density for that page (holy Hell, if tags are put into the META keywords list, this would be uber useful), but that's something the SEO specialist would have to comment on. Plus, common words are automatically removed by the mod.

Sometimes I put tags but only sometimes, and that's in rare cases. This Auto-Tag option is really useful. I'd like to see this implemented.
